A yahoo 360 buddy of mine named Scott at:
http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-2Irl5_IwdqdElVmhG6DDcSYDGa.R0gW23VnFoA--?cq=1
has posted a link to an article about people fighting the RIAA file-sharing lawsuits that are popping up. One Mom out in Oklahoma has won a summary dismissal AND the judge ordered the RIAA to pay the costs of her lawyer and several others are fighting the RIAA in courts in other states.
Go Moms!!!

- MY BLOGGING BUDDY JOHN 8/7/06

my blogging buddy John has two items of interest on his blog for anyone who might be concerned about the United States Patriot Act and about the continued actions of the MRA sueing websites offering unlicensed copies of song lyrics and music:

If you have any concern about the un-expectation of privacy or about the extension of copyright laws to benefit Big Hollywood, you might want to check it out.

- FIVE THINGS 8/7/06
-
FIVE THINGS THAT SEND MY SPIRIT SOARING AND FIVE THINGS THAT GET MY GOAT:
1. Seeing a whole crop of little minkies at a small pond on a summer's day, birds nesting in my yard and raising little ones, watching my four-footed companions play together.
2. Being there at the moment that someone dies, being able to help someone transition, knowing that I've made a difference.
3. Recognizing small increments of progress in myself and those around me, being able to do something newly learned, the ability to set goals and follow through with them.
4. Knowing that we are all interconnected, striving to give peace a chance, honoring the sacredness inherent in all beings.
5. Believing in love.
- we are trampling on the earth our mother and the ocean our other mother.
- people who are stuck in the same rut and not being able to help them get out of it.
- abuse of any kind, hunger, poverty, discrimination, murder, and war.
- those who would deny others the same basic human rights that they themselves have.
- having to pay the consequences for what others have done.
Idea for this list was taken from Dianna's blog: http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-yZlGtdA.aac9gydwI.bgkQLUaoqL
Dear 360 Companions,
I have been going through my list of companions and adding RSS feeds of those of you who have them to my Yahoo Home Pages. This will ultimately result in an increased ability to read your posts and respond. Those of you who do not have RSS feeds I am placing into a separate "friends category." My hope is that the process of reading your posts and responding to them will become more streamlined.

SIX BEHAVIORS WHICH I DO NOT CARE FOR IN OTHERS:
1. Anything that reminds me of things within myself that I don't like.
2. People who repeatedly ask me to lend them money-- as if I have any to lend them.
3. Doctors who remain uninformed about traumatic brain injury.
4. Those who insist upon writing comments in my blogs which demonstrate their ability to call others names and don't demonstrate a mature ability to agree to disagree.
5. People who wish to impose their ideas of morality and their religions upon me.
6. "Helping professionals" who do not help due to their stereotyping of those of us who live with disabilities.
SIX DREAM VACATIONS
1. Portugal, Spain, and Morocco.
2. Europe by train.
3. Islands which can only be gotten to by plane or boat.
4. All of Mexico.
5. The birthplaces of my ancestors.
6. Australia.
SIX FAVORITE HOBBIES
1. Communication and Creating: writing, blogging, computer art, music, crafts, decorating, connecting with people who are different than me and challenging my own preset notions and prejuidices.
2. My animals: dog, cats, frogs, fishies.
3. Nature: hiking, backpacking, walking, parks, birding, swimming in remote places in the woods, learning about life.
4. Activism: disability advocacy, support groups, political action for meaningful change, freedom of electronic speech, working for human rights for all humans-- including but not limited to granting people in same-gender relationships the protection of legal marriage, freedom of religion and freedom from [your] religion and freedom not to have a religion, culturally competent medical care, supporting our troops but not this so-called "war on terror," seeing checks and balances restored to the government of the untied states...etc.
5. Movement: traveling, walking the dog, exercise, driving, swimming, dancing, breath.
6. Mental stimulation: rational thinking [yes, it can be taught], becoming an intelligent consumer of the "news media," sudoku, imagination, reading, figuring things out, remembering, learning new things.
SIX THINGS THAT WOULD SURPRISE YOU ABOUT ME:
1. I grew up in an extremely prejudiced family and have to fight that daily.
2. My first reaction upon seeing a mouse indoors is to stand on a chair!
3. Although my memory is in the 99th percentile, there are things that have been "wiped" due to my traumatic brain injury.
4. I can remember where in a book I read something, whether it was a left-page or a right-page, and where it appeared on the page-- when asked. I also dream in spanish.
5. I can no longer multi-task-- except for driving.
6. I have permanent double vision in my left eye, a central nervous system tremor, and severe vertigo. My balance has improved to "excellent." When I fall, it is due to perception problems and not due to equilibrium.
SIX SONGS THAT DEFINE ME:
1. "Son of a Son of a Sailor," by Jimmy Buffett
2. Bob Dylan's "Tangled Up in Blue"
3. "Air I Am" traditional witch round
4. "Galileo" by the Indigo Girls
5. "I Am What I Am" sung by Gloria Gaynor or in the musical La Cage aux Folles
6. Harry Chapin's "All My Life's a Circle"
SIX GOALS I HOPE TO ACCOMPLISH THIS YEAR:
1. Maintain 10% acceptance rate for submitted writing to lit mags and zines.
2. Train the new kitten to quit treating the computer desk like his very own personal race track.
3. Increase the number of hours I am able to tolerate volunteering at the museum up from 3 hours 1 day a week for 2 or 3 weeks out of a month to 4 hours 1 day a week for 3 or 4 weeks out of a month.
4. Run scripts on Paintshop Pro 10.
5. Purchase a dehumidifier for the basement with the money I am saving up.
6. List the steps necessary to build a computer "from scratch."
As usual, I tag no one. Anyone who wishes may tag themselves or not. ~spike q
- LETTER FROM A FRIEND 7/29/06
-
This letter was written by a friend. I am passing it on to you because it contains critical information. Sincerely, spike q.
pic is from the public domain.
Hello, my name is Legions and I suffer from the guilt of not
forwarding 50 billion fricking chain letters sent to me by people
who actually believe that if you send them on, a poor 6-year-old
girl in Arkansas with a breast on her forehead will be able to raise
enough money to have it removed before her redneck parents sell her
to a traveling freak show.
Do you honestly believe that Bill Gates is going to give you,
and everyone to whom you send "his" email, $1000?
How stupid are we?
"Ooooh, looky here! If I scroll down this page and make a wish,
I'll get laid by a model I just happen to run into the next day!"
What a bunch of crap!
Maybe the evil chain letter leprechauns will come into my house
and sodomize me in my sleep for not continuing a chain letter that
was started by Peter in 5 AD and brought to this country by midget
pilgrims on the Mayflower.
Screw 'em.
If you're going to forward something, at least send me something
mildly amusing. I've seen all the "send this to 10 of your closest
friends, and this poor, wretched excuse for a human being will
somehow receive a nickel from some omniscient being" forwards about
90 times.
I don't fricking care.
Show a little intelligence and think about what you're actually
contributing to by sending out these forwards. Chances are, it's our
own unpopularity.
The point being? If you get some chain letter that's threatening
to leave you shagless or luckless for the rest of your life, delete
it. If it's funny, send it on.
Don't tick people off by making them feel guilty about a leper
in Botswana with no teeth who has been tied to the ass of a dead
elephant for 27 years and whose only salvation is the 5 cents per
letter he'll receive if you forward this email.
Now forward this to everyone you know.
Otherwise, tomorrow morning your underwear will turn carnivorous
and will consume your genitals.
Have a nice day.
P.S. Send me 20 bucks ....a $20 bill will do just fine, thanx!!What statement closest resembles your thoughts on chain e-mails?
- They can spread viruses and other computer nasties and they clog up space on the internet.
- 42
- Nothin' wrong with them, just some of us havin' some fun.
- 0
- I don't much care either way.
